The over/under for Lions wins is 6 1/2. The Lions are 80-1 to win the Super Bowl and 40-1 to win the NFC.
If you have to bet on the Lions, you must take the under. I can’t project them to win 7 or more games with the roster they currently have.
The Lions had a rough time Friday night. Jon Kitna completed 11 of 22 passes for 118 yards and a very bad looking interception. Kitna also scrambled 3 times for 19 yards. Dan Orlovsky finished the game, completing 7 of 15 passes for 88 yards and a pick-off.
RB Kevin Jones carried the ball 11 times for 43 yards (3.9 ypc), and caught 3 passes for 27 yards.
WR/KR Eddie Drummond is making a move to be more involved in the offense. Drummond caught 4 passes for 71 yards (17.8 avg). Corey Bradford is looking like the starter opposite Roy Williams. Bradford caught 5 passes for 58 yards.
The Lions defense didn’t look very good on Friday night. The Raiders rushed for 123 yards, but only averaged 3.3 yards per carry. The Raiders completed 56.5% of their passes for a net of 212 yards in the air.
The Lions are taking a little time to learn their new offense and defense and it’s been showing on the field of play. The Lions are running well averaging 103.5 yards rushing, and 4.4 yards per carry. The passing game is coming along slowly, due to a lack of talent at receiver. The Lions are only averaging 163.0 yards passing per game and completing only 51.7% of their passes.
The defense is getting pushed around a little bit. The Lions are allowing 132.0 yards per game on the ground and 4.2 yards per carry. The pass defense is getting roughed up to the tune of 210.0 yards per game and a 69.0% completion rate.Â
These numbers need to change soon if the Lions are gonna improve this season.
Jon Kitna had a pretty good game connecting on 7 of 12 passes for 94 yards and a TD pass to Kevin Jones. Josh McCown regained some ground on Dan Orlovsky for the #2 QB job. McCown completed 8 of 15 passes for 82 yards and rushed 5 times for 37 yards. Orlovsky had a horrible game, completing only 3 of 11 passes for 44 yards and an interception.Â
Atrose Pinner had a nice game running the ball toting the rock 6 times for 40 yards. Kevin Jones found the going rough as he carried the ball 6 times for 7 yards. Jones did catch a 4 yard TD pass from Jon Kitna. WR Roy Williams had a good game catching 2 passes for 54 yards.
The Lions defense didn’t fare as well as the offense. The Browns rushed the ball 31 times for 144 yards in the game. The Browns also netted 190 yards passing on 26 of 38 passes completed.
