Click here to see if the Lions are favored
This game does not appear to be the mis-match that it looked like it would be before the season started. Both of these defenses put on a show in week #1, the Packers shut out the Packers and the Bears held the defending NFC Champions to three field goals.
For the Lions’ offense to be successful, the line is going to have to block much better than it did in the opener. The Lions will have to attempt to run the ball with Kevin Jones a little bit to slow down the Bears pass rush. When the Lions start throwing the ball they will have to spread it around among a few receivers so that the Bears don’t take Roy Williams out of the game.
The Bears will try to run the ball, like they always do on offense. Look for Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson to both get the ball alot. Rex Grossman looked great against the Packers, and will look to build on that success. TE Desmond Clark emerged as a weapon in the passing attack last week, and Gorssman will be looking for him again often, so that the coverage might loosen on his favorite target Mushin Muhammad.
I look for the Bears to prevail over the improving Lions in a low-scoring defensive battle.
