Jordan Dizon played outside linebacker in college but he will likely make a move to the outside post in the pros.  He is a tad small at 5′11″, 228 pounds but he runs a 4.67 40 and he’s very football fast.  By that I mean, he plays faster on the field than when he’s just running a straight line.  Dizon was very effective at Colorado where he played in 50 games (46 starts) and he made 440 tackles, 31 tackles for a loss, had 12 sacks, broke up 9 passes and had 2 interceptions.  Dizon plays 100 mph hour on the field which will really help him get playing time on special teams as well as on defense.

The Lions needed help along the offensive line and they felt that Cherilus was too good to pass up in the first round.  Cherilus is a huge player at 6′6″, 315 pounds and he has a mean streak.  He’s good at pulling and leading the way on sweeps.  Cherilus had trouble learning the left side of the line so the Lions have him penciled in as the starter at right tackle for the 2008 season.

The Lions have signed running back Artose Pinner to a 1-year contract.  The 30-year old Pinner played his first three seasons in the NFL for the Lions but things are a little bit different now.  Pinner played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Vikings last season and he carried the ball 5 times for 46 yards (9.2 ypc).  Pinner has now played in 47 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 250 times for 858 yards (3.4 ypc) with 8 TD runs.  He has also caught 39 passes for 308 yards (7.9 avg).  Pinner will likely be nothing more than a backup for the Lions this season.
