The Detroit Lions sign Maurice Morris
The Lions have signed 29-year old running back Maurice Morris to a 3-year contract worth over $6 million bucks. Morris played in 13 games for the Seahawks last season and he carried the ball 132 times for 574 yards (4.3 ypc). He also caught 19 passes for 136 yards (7.2 avg) with 2 TD grabs. Morris has now played in 101 games in his NFL career in which he has carried the ball 604 times for 2,612 yards (4.3 ypc) with 5 TD runs. He also has caught 74 passes for 553 yards (7.5 avg) with 4 TD grabs. Morris will likely share time at running back with second year man Kevin Smith.
Morris also has a lot of experience on special teams. He only returned 1 kickoff for 21 yards last season. But, Morris has returned 129 kickoffs in his NFL career for 2,843 yards (22.0 avg) with 1 TD return. This was a good signing for the Lions.
