The Lions looked flat yesterday and it cost them this game.  Matt Stafford didn’t look too good as he only completed 15 of 32 passes for 183 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Maurice Morris led the way on the ground for the Lions yesterday with 9 carries for 50 yards (5.6 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 13 yards (6.5 avg).  Keiland Williams pitched in with 44 yards rushing on 9 carries (4.9 ypc).  WR Calvin Johnson led the way in the passing game for the Lions yesterday with 5 grabs for 115 yards (23.0 avg) with 1 TD grab.  TE Brandon Pettigrew pitched in with 4 grabs for 31 yards (7.8 avg) in this game.  The Lions finished up with 104 yards rushing on 20 carries (5.2 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 32 passes (46.9%) for 159 yards as they had possession of the ball for only 25:03.

The defense was so-so for the Lions yesterday.  LB DeAndre Levy (11 tackles) and safety Louis Delmas (8 tackles and 1 pass defensed) led the way for the Lions on D.  Safety Amari Spievey (6 tackles, 1 pass defensed) and LB Stephen Tulloch (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) also had solid games for the Lions.  The Falcons finished up with 129 yards rushing on 31 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 35 passes (57.1%) for 199 yards in this game.  The Lions are now 5-2 on the year.

The Detroit Lions were shocked yesterday as the Niners scored 10 points on them in the last 1:51 of the game.  Matt Stafford was so-so as he completed 28 of 50 passes for 293 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 9 yards.  Jahvid Best carried the ball 12 times for 37 yards (3.1 ypc) and he also caught 6 passes for 73 yards (12.2 avg) in this game.  WR Calvin Johnson led the way in the passing game for the Lions with 7 grabs for 113 yards (16.1 avg).  TE Brandon Pettigrew (8 rec, 42 yards, TD) and WR Nate Burleson (4 rec, 34 yards, TD) also pitched in for the Lions in the passing game.  The Lions finished up with 66 yards rushing on 18 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 28 of 50 passes (56%) for 244 yards as they had possession of the ball for 30:21.

The Lions’ D played well against the pass, but not so good against the run yesterday.  LBs DeAndre Levy (12 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and Stephen Tulloch (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit) led the way for the Lions’ D in this game.  Safety Amari Spievey (4 tackles, 1 pass defensed and a interception that he returned 30 yards) and DE Kyle Vanden Bosch (2 tackles, 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery) also pitched in for the D in this game.  The 49ers finished up with 203 yards rushing on 29 carries (7.0 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 32 passes (53.1%) for 111 yards in this game.  The Lions are now 5-1 on the year.

The Detroit Lions came alive in the second half last night as they outscored the Bears 17-3 to surge to victory.  Matt Stafford was solid once again for the Lions last night as he completed 19 of 26 passes for 219 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  Jahvid Best led the way on the ground for the Lions in this game as he was outstanding!  Best carried the ball 12 times for 163 yards (13.6 ypc) with 1 TD run (an impressive 88 yard scamper!).  He also caught 4 passes for 9 yards (2.3 avg) in this game.  Calvin Johnson had another monster game for the Lions as he caught 5 passes for 130 yards (26.0 avg) with a 73-yard TD reception.  TE Brandon Pettigrew pitched in with 4 grabs for 39 yards (9.8 avg) with 1 TD grab.  The Lions finished up with 181 yards rushing on 20 carries (9.1 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 26 passes (73.1%) for 214 yards as they only had possession of the ball for 20:57.

The defense made big plays when they had to last night.  LB DeAndre Levy (13 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss) and safety Louis Delmas (8 tackles) led the way for the Lions on D in this game.  CB Chris Houston (6 tackles and 1 pass defensed) and LB Stephen Tulloch (6 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and 1 pass defensed) also had solid games for the Lions last night.  The Bears finished up with 122 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.9 ypc) and they also completed 28 of 38 passes (73.7%) for 237 yards.  The Lions are now 5-0 on the year.

Detroit Lions 34, Dallas Cowboys 30

The Lions were down 27-3 in the 3rd quarter today before both the offense and defense rose up.  LB Bobby Carpenter had a 34-yard interception return for a TD to start off the comeback for the Lions.  CB Chris Houston picked off a pass shortly after Carpenter and he returned it 56 yards for another TD.  The Lions then scored 17 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to finish off an improbable comeback as they snatched victory from the Jaws of Defeat.  Matthew Stafford completed 21 of 43 passes for 240 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  Jahvid Best pitched in with 47 yards rushing on 11 carries (4.3 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 23 yards (11.5 avg).  WR Calvin Johnson (8 rec, 96 yards, 2 TDs) and TE Brandon Pettigrew (6 rec, 64 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Lions today.  The Lions finished up with 63 yards rushing on 17 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 43 passes (48.8%) for 240 yards as they only had possession of the ball for 23:21.

The defense played awful for the first 2.5 quarters today and awesome the last 1.5!  LBs Stephen Tulloch (12 tackles, 1 pass defensed, 1 QB hit and 1 interception) and DeAndre Levy (10 tackles) led the way for the Lions’ D today.  Safety Louis Delmas pitched in with 7 tackles.  CB Chris Houston (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed and a interception that he returned 56 yards for a TD) and LB Bobby Carpenter (6 tackles, 1 pass defensed and a interception that he returned 34 yards for a TD) also made huge plays in this game for the Lions.  The Cowboys finished up with 112 yards rushing on 27 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 34 of 47 passes (72.3%) for 321 yards.  The Lions are now 4-0 on the year.

Detroit Lions 26, Minnesota Vikings 23 in O.T.

The Lions were down 20-0 at the half, but they came out on fire in the second half and the overtime period to pull out an outstanding win on the road!  Matthew Stafford was excellent once again for the Lions in this game as he completed 32 of 46 passes for 378 yards with 2 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He showed amazing toughness in this game as he was sacked 5 times yesterday.  Jahvid Best only rushed for 14 yards on 12 carries (1.2 ypc) but he also caught 5 passes for 74 yards (14.8 avg).  TE Brandon Pettigrew (11 rec, 112 yards), WR Calvin Johnson (7 rec, 108 yards, 2 TD grabs) and WR Titus Young (4 rec, 51 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Lions.  The Lions rushed for only 20 yards on 19 carries (1.1 ypc) but they also completed 32 of 46 passes (69.6%) for 338 yards as they had possession of the ball for 34:09.

The defense played excellent in the second half and the O.T. in this game.  LB Stephen Tulloch (7 tackles), CB Eric Wright (7 tackles) and LB Justin Durant (6 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss) led the way for the Lions’ D yesterday.  DT Ndamukong Suh, safety Amari Spievey, DE Cliff Avril and DE Kyle VandenBosch pitched in with 1 sack apiece in this game.  The Vikings finished up with 132 yards rushing on 23 carries (5.7 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 36 passes (61.1%) for 189 yards.  The Lions are now a perfect 3-0 on the 2011 season.

Detroit Lions 48, Kansas City Chiefs 3

The Detroit Lions kicked the Chiefs’ ass all over and up and down the field yesterday at Ford Field!  Matt Stafford was very impressive as he completed 23 of 39 passes for 294 yards with 4 TD passes and 1 INT.  Shaun Hill mopped up in the 4th quarter and he completed his only pass attempt and it was good for 28 yards.  Jahvid Best was really busy once again in this game as he carried the ball 16 times for 57 yards (3.6 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 6 passes for 66 yards (11.0 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Keiland Williams got in during garbage time and he carried the ball 9 times for 25 yards (2.8 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Stafford spread the ball around to a lot of receivers yesterday as he wasn’t playing favorites.  WRs Nate Burleson (7 rec, 93 yards), Titus Young (5 rec, 89 yards) and Calvin Johnson (3 rec, 29 yards, 2 TDs) led the way for the Lions in the passing game.  TE Tony Scheffler pitched in with 1 catch and it went for a 36 yard TD.  The Lions rushed for 89 yards on 30 carries (3.0 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 40 passes (60%) for 322 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:34.

The defense played outstanding football yesterday despite giving up a lot of rushing yards.  LB Justin Durant (11 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss), LB DeAndre Levy (7 tackles) and CB Eric Wright (4 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception) led the way for the Lions’ D in this game.  CB Chris Houston (INT), safety Amari Spievey (INT), LB Stephen Tulloch (FR) and DE Cliff Avril (FR) also had huge plays in this game for the D.  The Chiefs finished up with 151 yards rushing on 29 carries (5.2 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 23 passes (65.2%) for 116 yards in this game.  The Lions are now 2-0 on the season.

Detroit Lions 27, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20

The Lions looked like a well oiled machine offensively today in Tampa.  Matthew Stafford was very solid in this game as he completed 24 of 33 passes for 305 yards with 3 TD passes and 1 INT (the interception was returned 28 yards for a TD by Bucs’ corner Aqib Talib).  The pickoff was on a tipped pass.  Jahvid Best got a lot of work in today as he carried the ball 21 times for 72 yards (3.4 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 42 yards (10.5 avg).  Jerome Harrison pitched in with 27 yards rushing on 8 carries (3.4 ypc) in this game.  Calvin Johnson had a monster game for the Lions today with 6 grabs for 88 yards (14.7 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Nate Burleson (5 receptions for 60 yards and 1 carry for 20 yards), TE Brandon Pettigrew (4 rec, 57 yards) and TE Tony Scheffler (1 rec, 11 yards, TD) also pitched in for the Lions in the passing game.  The Lions rushed for 125 yards on 36 carries (3.6 ypc) and they completed 24 of 33 passes (72.7%) for 305 yards as they had possession of the ball for 36:25.

The defense had issues stopping the pass today, but they were very solid against the run.  Safety Amari Spievey (7 tackles), CB Chris Houston (7 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception) and CB Eric Wright (6 tackles) led the way for the Lions’ on D in this game.  The Buccaneers finished up with 56 yards rushing on 16 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 29 of 46 passes (63%) for 257 yards.  The Lions have started the 2011 season with a 1-0 record.

Detroit Lions 20, Minnesota Vikings 13

The Lions played a solid all around game yesterday at Ford Field.  Shaun Hill completed 28 of 39 passes for 258 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT (it was returned 36-yards for a TD by Vikings’ DE Jared Allen).  Jahvid Best carried the ball 10 times for 34 yards (3.4 ypc) and he also caught 6 passes for 23 yards (3.8 avg).  Maurice Morris could only muster 21 yards rushing on 12 carries (1.8 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 2 passes for 24 yards (12.0 avg).  Nate Burleson led the way in the passing game for the Lions against his old team with 6 grabs for 83 yards (13.8 avg) with a TD grab.  Burleson also carried the ball 1 time for 20 yards against the Vikings.  TE Tony Scheffler pitched in with 50 yards receiving on 6 grabs (8.3 avg).  The Lions finished up with 107 yards rushing on 27 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 28 of 39 passes for 250 yards.

The Lions’ D saved their best for last as they were simply dominating in this game!   LBs DeAndre Levy (11 tackles), Bobby Carpenter (8 tackles) and Ashlee Palmer (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit) led the way for the Lions on D in this game.  CB Amari Spievey also had a solid game with 3 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception.  The Lions finish 6-10 on the year which has them tied with the Vikings for last place in the NFC North.

Detroit Lions 34, Miami Dolphins 27

The Detroit Lions scored 17 points in the last 4:37 of this game to pull a impressive victory out of their hats in Miami.  Shaun Hill returned to action in this game and he was solid.  Hill completed 14 of 26 passes for 222 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 10 yards in this game.  Jahvid Best led thew ay on the ground for the Lions in this game with 6 carries  for 24 yards (4.0 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 53 yards and it went for a TD.  Maurice Morris only rushed for 22 yards on 12 carries (1.8 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 2 passes for 13 yards.  Brandon Pettigrew (4 rec, 74 yards, TD) and Calvin Johnson (4 rec, 52 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Lions.  The Lions finished up with 67 yards on 21 carries (3.2 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 26 passes for 208 yards as they had the ball for only 22:45.

The Lions gave up a ton of yards but they also made some big plays on D when it really counted.  LB Bobby Carpenter (9 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and CB Nathan Vasher (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception) led the way for the Lions; D in this game.  LB DeAndre Levy made the biggest play on D for the Lions in this game when he picked off a Chad Henne pass which he returned 30 yards for a TD with only 2:11 left.  He also made 4 tackles and defensed 1 pass in this game.  The Dolphins finished up with 154 yards rushing on 37 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 29 of 44 passes for 271 yards.  The Lions are now 5-10 on the year and they are on a 3-game winning streak.

Detroit Lions 23, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20 in O.T.

Lions’ QB Drew Stanton led the Lions on a 10-play, 58-yard drive to set up kicker Dave Rayner with a game tying FG as time expired to send this game into O.T.  The Lions then won the toss and marched right down the field on a 9-play, 63-yard drive that set up Dave Rayner for the game winning 34 yard field goal as the Lions snapped a 26-game road losing streak!

Drew Stanton has the best game of his NFL career last Sunday for the Lions.  He completed 23 of 37 passes for 252 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 24 yards (12.0 ypc) in this game.  Maurice Morris was also outstanding for the Lions yesterday as he carried the ball 15 times for 109 yards (7.3 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 3 passes for 10 yards (3.3 avg).  Calvin Johnson (10 rec, 152 yards) and Nate Burleson (4 receptions for 28 yards with a TD and 1 carry for 25 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Lions last Sunday.  The Lions finished up with 181 yards rushing on 28 carries (6.5 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 38 passes for 252 yards.

LB DeAndre Levy (11 tackles, 1 pass defensed), LB Julian Peterson (9 tackles) and safety John Wendling (7 tackles) led the way for the Lions’ D in this game.  The Buccaneers finished up with 176 yards rushing on 28 carries (6.3 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 33 passes for 227 yards.  The Lions are now 4-10 on the season.
