The over/under for Detroit Lions wins in 2011 is 7.5

The Lions only won six games last year.  But, they won their last four games of the year in 2010 and followed that up with a perfect 4-0 record in the preseason.  The Lions have momentum in their favor heading into the 2011 season.  They have improved the defense vastly for the 2011 season and that was by far the biggest weakness on the team.  The Lions do have nine games against teams with winning records in 2011 and I think they are going to win some of those.  I see the Lions winning 9 or 10 games in 2011, so I would bet on the over.

The over/under for Detroit Lions wins in 2010 is 5.5

The Lions struggled last season going 2-14 on the year.  I think they will be a lot better in 2010 but I still would bet the under only because of the strength of the schedule.  Matt Stafford is going to make a huge jump in 2010 with new toys around on offense like Tony Scheffler, Nate Burleson and Jahvid Best.  But, the defense still isn’t where is needs to be for the Lions to compete in the very tough NFC North.  The Lions are 150-1 to win the Super Bowl and I would expect most Lions fans to keep their money in the bank.

The over/under for wins in 2008 for the Detroit Lions is 6.5

I’m not a believer it taking the over with the Lions no matter how many games Jon Kitna says the Lions are going to win.  I don’t think the Lions improved at all over the summer and that makes me side with the under here.  Maybe the Lions will prove me wrong but I’m betting against it.

I don’t happen to share QB Jon Kitna’s optimism about the Lions 2007 season.  They keep forgetting that you need a defense and a offensive line to win in the NFL.  You would think ex-linebacker Matt Millen would realize that.  DTs Shaun Rogers, Corey Redding and OLB Ernie Sims are the only above average players on the entire defense.  The Lions will be giving up points faster than they can score them despite having all of the firepower they got.  It’s hard to see the Lions winning more than 5 games in 2007.
